Samsung wants to overthrow Apple in smartwatches market, launches Gear S2South Korean tech giant Samsung launched its latest smartwatch ‘Gear S2’ to challenge Apple's smartwatch, which is taking over the wearable devices market.

Samsung’s Gear S2 is round in shape with 1.2-inch (30 millimetre) screen. You can do mobile payment and remote control home appliances as well using the device. It is equipped with common phone calls and text messaging features.

The smartwatch will be officially released by the end of this month during the IFA trade fair in Berlin.

Samsung, which has released a series of smartwatches since 2013, has received mediocre responses from consumers.

Whereas, Apple has dominated the wearable device market, shipping about four million smartwatches globally in the second quarter, around 75% of the overall market.
