Shares of HCL Technologies are inching up

HCL Technologies Ltd., India's 4th largest exporter of software services, inched up in trade after it announced a digital partnership with global football giant Manchester United.

Manchester United is the world's most popular Soccer club and has more than 659 million fans across the world. HCL Tech will be designing a state-of-the-art digital lab for Manchester United at Old Trafford to enable the club to interact in a much better fashion with its fans. The lab will `set up a new engagement benchmark in sport,'' a joint statement from the companies said.

Citigroup recently said in a research report that HCL Technologies was its best pick in the Indian IT sector owing to the company's strong exposure to the digital side of the software business.

HCL Tech rose 7 rupees, or 0.7 percent, to 955.95 rupees on the National Stock Exchange. The company's market capitalisation has risen 18 percent in the past one year to 1.34 lakh crore rupees and the stock trades at 5.5 times its book value of 173 rupees.
