Spicejet flight plays the national anthem with seat belt on

Minutes before a Tirupati – Hyderabad fight was about to land, the national anthem started playing in the plane’s PA system. The passengers were on a dilemma when they didn’t knew whether they should stand up defying captain’s order or stay seated and insult the national anthem.

While the Spicejet in a statement has said that it was a mistake on part of the crew who played the national anthem by mistake, instead of playing another track, one passenger alleged, the anthem was paused and then played again.

The passenger later complained to the airlines about the incident that happened.

"We were surprised when the national anthem was played and the passengers were forced to abide by the pilot's directions to keep the seat belt on," Tiwari, who works as a manager of a bank in Indore, told TOI.

The incident took place in SG1044 on April 18.

According to the TOI, Tiwari, who was travelling with his wife Pratyushi and their one-and-half year-old daughter, said a complaint was lodged with the airlines crew, who claimed that they were not in a position to do anything about it as the national anthem was uploaded in the system.
