Tata Motors fires 1500 employees from managerial workforce

Tata Motors has reduced its Indian managerial workforce by up to 1,500 people, citing organisational restructuring exercise.

"The reference (total managers) on which we started (the exercise) was in the vicinity of 13,000...we do see as far as the white collar population is concerned, an overall reduction in the vicinity of 10-12% (up to 1,500)," said MD and CEO Guenter Butschek.

Off lately, several organisations across various sectors have laid off and fired their employees citing different reasons, like cutting the flab to automation.

One of the worst hit sectors have been the IT industry, country's largest private sector employer, with employees of almost all major companies suffering job losses.
