For the starters, Baristas at Tata Starbucks will now have a five-day week culture, ending the norm for employees to put in extra hours and days to serve customers.

"We want to be the employer of choice. In a feedback we had with our partners (Tata Starbucks refers its employees as partners), this emerged as the top-most request," said Sumitro Ghosh, CEO of Tata Starbucks.

This will be implemented across Tata Starbucks from May 15 and over 1,200 employees at 83 stores in India will benefit from it.

Moreover, the employees will get additional 52 days off.

Tata Starbucks wants to become more employee-friendly and lower down the attrition rate.

As per the National Restaurant Association of India, Indian cafe industry is worth Rs 1,520 crore, which is expected to touch Rs 3,775 crore in 2018.

Meanwhile, in other countries, Starbucks has initiatives such as monthly housing allowance and assistance in university tuition fees.
