Tax officials raid Delhi Axis Bank branch, unearth 44 fake accounts with Rs 100 crore

In a shocking revelation, the Income Tax department officials conducted a raid on a Delhi branch of the Axis Bank and allegedly unearthed 44 fake accounts.
The raid took place in Delhi's Chandni Chowk area during which tax sleuths recovered nearly Rs 100 crore in old notes.
The 44 fake accounts, they said, had been created using forged documents and investigators suspect that the money may have been routed to buy gold.
Earlier, tax officers had caught two people with rs 3.5 crore in new currency from Axis Bank’s Kashmere Gate branch.
