Tesla's April Fool's joke teases Apple. Maybe because Apple is developing an electric car?

Tesla had fun today.

It announced the "Model W", which is a watch. As you may know, today is April Fool's Day. So, this is just a joke. But, it's also a little bit more than just a joke.

Apple is about to release the Apple Watch, which is why Tesla did the "Model W" joke. Apple is also reportedly developing an electric car. And Apple has reportedly been poaching Tesla employees.

It would therefore appear that Tesla's joke is a little dig at Apple.

And, before you dismiss this as nonsense, here's the last line on Tesla's blog post announcing the Model W: "This is in no way a competitive response to what some other company is doing."
