Tenerife is one of the most popular destinations British travellers will visit this summer, according to TripAdvisor.

With beach season fast approaching, TripAdvisor has released a report with the most popular destinations for a summer holiday booked by British travellers.

The travel review site ranked destinations based on those with the most bookings between June 1 and August 31.

Of the places that made the top 10, Spain makes up more than half of the list, while other summer locations include island resorts with white sandy beaches and a bustling city full of skyscrapers.

Along with the ranking, TripAdvisor included the average cost of a nightly hotel rate, a meal, and a one-week summer trip. The cheapest week to visit each destination (and the cost) is also featured, along with the percentage of savings holidaymakers would make by travelling during the least expensive week.

"This report proves that it can pay to pick your week wisely when planning your trip abroad this summer, with savings of up to 20% on offer," TripAdvisor spokesperson Hayley Coleman said in a press release. "If you are thinking about a visit to Corfu during the week of 30th May for example, you can book it on TripAdvisor for over £112 less than the average week's cost over the rest of the summer."
