The most expensive zip code in America isn't in Silicon Valley.

It's Sagaponack, New York, the summer destination of Billy Joel and the Clinton family, among others.

Over the past year, homes in the area, part of the Hamptons, sold for a median price of over $5 million.

The list of most expensive zip codes was compiled by the data team at real estate listings site Property Shark, which calculated the median sale price for each zip code based on closed sales that took place between January 2014 and June 2015.

They found that the most expensive places to buy a house are on either coast, with New York, Florida, and California dominating the list.
