Students from the University of Portsmouth live in one of the UK's most affordable university cities.

Unless you're on a scholarship, studying at university can be incredibly expensive.

But where you study can have a huge financial impact, according to the NatWest Student Living Index, released on July 28 by the Royal Bank of Scotland.

The annual report, which reveals the UK's cheapest and costliest university cities in the UK, determined its findings based on survey responses from 2,500 students across the country.

The index looked at how much money students spend on their weekly rent, going out, alcohol, as well as their average term-time income.

It also found that while loans - totalling around £161.14 per week - make up the bulk of students' finances, along with part-time work, the second largest source of income comes from their parents.
