The open office might actually be terrible for business
It seems like secluded cubicles and private offices are disappearing and the open office plan is taking over every corner of the modern workforce, from the finance industry to tech startups.
Some argue the open office is win-win: its cost-efficient for employers and communication-friendly for workers.
But others say there are some serious pitfalls to this layout.
GetVoIP, a digital telephone service, investigated the efficacy of the "new normal" office plan, and created an infographic that shows how employees feel it affects their productivity. As it turns out, employees are distracted by colleagues pretty frequently, and that unproductive time ends up costing businesses.
