There was a shooting at a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana - six people injured, shooter dead

Local Lousiana media are reporting that there was a shooting Thursday night at The Grand Theater on Johnston Street in Lafayette, Louisiana.

City Marshall Brian Pope told The Daily Advertiser, a newspaper in Lafayette, that six people were injured in the shooting. The shooter then turned the gun on himself. He is dead.

Lafayette is a city of around 120,000 people located southwest of Baton Rouge.

The Daily Advertiser's Seth Dickerson is reporting that two are dead, including the shooter.

 Katie Domingue told The Daily Advertiser that 20 minutes into the 7 pm showing of "Train Wreck," she heard "a loud pop" and saw an "older white man" shooting, though not in her direction.

 

 

"He wasn't saying anything. I didn't hear anybody screaming either," Domingue said.

The shooting has been confirmed by Governor Bobby Jindal in a tweet.
