Be it coming to the office on time or substituting paan and gutka with chewing gums, there has been a sudden change in the way officials and bureaucrats of the UP government work.

UP government has, for long, banned chewing tobacco in government offices but the rule was not followed by the officials themselves, let alone general public. However, one can now see that they are not only switching to toffees and chewing gums, but are also more careful about not littering the floors by the wrappers.

Talking of the attendance, ever since the state’s new CM urged government employees to be ready to work 18-20 hours a day, employees have started coming to the office regularly; also because they have been warned against taking official files home. To track their attendance and working hours, a biometric attendance recording system might also be installed soon.

Transport minister Swatantra Deo Singh told TOI that he would not bear any carelessness in terms of cleanliness. He himself cleaned the floor on the first day of the "Swachh drive" at the transport commissioner's office.
