Virat Kohli becomes the fastest batsman to reach 1000 runs as ODI skipper Since Virat Kohli was given the role of being the full time skipper of Team India, India just lost a match against England and that to with a nail biting finish. However, regardless of the loss, Kohli continued to make new records.

Kohli scored 55 runs against England and that made him the fastest batsman to score first 1000 runs as ODI skipper both, achieved in 17 innings.

He broke the earlier record set by South Africa's AB deVilliers which was achieved in 18 innings.

Also, Virat created another record as he broke Sourav Ganguly's record of reaching 1000 runs in 22 innings.

He is the seventh Indian batsman to reach this landmark. Before Kohli the other Indian ODI skippers who achieved this feat are Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Mohammad Azharuddin and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
