Volvo Rs 1.25 crorelaunched its mightiest car ever, which is going to be the first big SUV in India with a plug in hybrid variant. The XC90 T8 twin engine, in this hybrid beast form, is priced at Rs 1.25 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). The beast is going to overtake the kinds of Audi Q7, the BMW X5, the Range Rover Sport and the Mercedes-Benz GLS.

Changes in the exterior of the car are few and major changes include an external charging port cover on the left fender. Except for the new t8 badging tailgate, the rest of the styling is same as the diesel XC90. Other than that, the car has a rectangular 'iron mask' grille, a sleek set of projector headlamps with the signature Thor's Hammer daytime running LEDs and L-shaped taillamps. The wheel size is gigantic and is of 20-inches while 19-inchers are also optionally available.

The new model is only a four-seater as compared to the present model which is a seven-seater. Apart from that, the car shares similar features from the existing variants, barring the 20-speaker premium surround sound Bower and Wilkins audio system.

Inside the beast is a 2.0-litre turbocharged motor combined to an electric motor and produces 412 horsepower and 650Nm of torque, the best in class. The car reaches 0-100 kmph in just 5.6 seconds, the company claimed.

Volvo has also claimed an outstanding fuel economy of 47.6kmpl. With the hybrid XC90, you also get two charging stations that can charge the car up within 150 minutes. According to the company, the T8 will only be available in the top-end Excellence trim of the Volvo XC90.
