When kids in the '90s weren't exploring Hyrule in "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past," or piloting airships across the vast plains of "Final Fantasy 3" on their Super Nintendo, they were delighting in the colorful and rich world of the "Secret of Mana."

Not bad for 1993!

That's a pretty huge step up.

What a difference 20-plus years makes!

More than just a 3D visual makeover, the re-release of "Secret of Mana" adds voice work for the game's main characters, a new arrangement of the game's soundtrack ("that pays tribute to the original"), and the ability to play the game with a friend ("local multiplayer").

Perhaps most importantly of all, the updated "Secret of Mana" features a dragon with a killer haircut:

When the game launches in 2018, it'll cost $40 - you can pre-order it on PlayStation 4 here if you're so inclined, and you'll get a handful of in-game costumes as a bonus.
