Android had a tough year compared to iOS in one crucial area

Google's Android operating system owns nearly 90% of the smartphone market, but its popularity comes at a price: higher vulnerability.

According to this chart by Statista, based on data from CVE Details, Android's operating system saw the most number of vulnerabilities in 2016. That means Android was much more prone to a software glitch that could lead to hacker attacks than some of its competitors, including Apple's iOS which saw only a third of the number of vulnerabilities than the Android did.
The result, however, is a huge reversal from last year: the Android OS saw only 125 vulnerabilities while the iOS had 387.
