Exclusive: Rain, thunderstorm wreak havoc at Delhi airport

The unexpected downpour in Delhi on Monday which was preceded by dust storm may bring much needed respite from the sweltering heat, but it caused havoc at the Delhi airport due to which dozens of flights got either delayed or cancelled.

The Delhi airport had to be briefly shut down on Monday evening because of the storm and rains. “A number of flights either preparing to take off or land were hit as planes hovered over for hours waiting for approval to land,” said an official.
