Meet Rajiv Misra, an IIT alumnus who is now on the Board of Softbank

IITians have known to been known to be rising in every sphere, from startups to corporates around the world. In yet another such example, Indian-origin Rajeev Misra has been recently inducted into SoftBank Group's Board of Directors.

Misra studied at Delhi Public School-Mathura Road. He is an alumnus of IIT-Delhi and University of Pennsylvania.

He joined SoftBank in 2014 from the Fortress Investment Group. Currently the CEO of SoftBank's mega $100-billion technology-focused Vision Fund, Misra has been chosen by the Chairman of SoftBank Masayoshi Son himself.

Interestingly, his appointment comes in the wake of Manabu Miyasaka's recent resignation from the board.

Misra was instrumental in financing Soft-Bank’s acquisition of Vodafone Japan, and arranging financing for the heavily leveraged Japanese conglomerate for its $32-billion acquisition of the UK-based chip maker ARM Holdings in July last year, also its biggest bet till date.

He, along with eight other directors will assume the new role after the Annual General Meeting of shareholders on June 21.
