Pichai: India plays a major role in what we build at GoogleGoogle CEO Sundar Pichai is in India right at the beginning of the new year to announce Google's new Digital initiative for SMBs in India.

At the event Pichai also talked about how India is in Google's plan saying "If we solve a problem for India, we solve it for the world". He talked about how Google builds products keeping India in mind.

Some of the products Pichai mentioned were designed specifically for India like YouTube go, this feature was introduced in India last year looking at the variable internet connectivity that the country has, with YouTube Go users can download YouTube videos to watch later, connectivity has been a huge cause for Google in India as it goes to get it's next billion users from India and Google's wifi initiative with RailTel was designed for people in India to get easy and free internet connectivity where Google partnered with govt's RailTel to offer free Wi-Fi connectivity at railway stations. So far Google has connected over 100 Railway stations in India with the partnership.

Google has also set up Google stations in partnership with enterprises so that people can access internet at various locations like shopping malls. All these initiation have mainly been designed for India but some products like YouTube Go Google says have been popular globally as well.

Pichai also talked about how India was one of the the first few countries where company's flagship 'Made By Google's phone was launched. And how Google's AI Assistant was introduced in Hindi for India users.

Today Google launched a skill training initiative called Digital Unlocked in India for the small and medium businesses. The initiative is in partnership with industry body FICCI and management school ISB where SMBs can get digital skill training to grow their digital presence.

Pichai will also address college students at IIT Kharagpur where he got his engineering degree in 1993.
