Ducati could soon be owned by Royal Enfield

Ducati, the Italian high-performance motorcycle brand, which is owned by the Volkswagen group, could soon come under the umbrella of an Indian company.

Royal Enfield, the Vidisha-headquartered company run by Siddhartha Lal, is in talks to acquire Ducati.

VW, which is suffering a dip in its popularity because of the diesel emissions scandal, had asked investment banker Evercore to arrange for the sale of Ducati, to which Royal Enfield has expressed interest.

If the deal goes through, Ducati could be valued at about $1.5 billion euros (approximately Rs 10,500 crore).

Royal Enfield is a part of Eicher Motors, and after its expansion to Europe, North America, and Asia, has been seeing healthy growth in India.
