However, this doesn’t mean that the man would never take a huge superstar in any of his movie, which is why he has now announced casting the king of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, in his next movie.
Not only this, Rai has also confirmed that Khan would be playing a dwarf in the movie, something which no mainstream actor has done in Bollywood in a long time. What comes to mind when we think of Bollywood actor playing a dwarf is when Kamal Haasan played one in the 1989 movie Appu Raja, for which he received a lot of critical acclaim.
"He is a gutsy actor. He always takes challenges. It is a delight to have him in the film. We both have liking for each other. We want to work together and we are on that process. Shah Rukh is a very intelligent man. He makes you feel so important and responsible so it is fun to work with him. He was very happy to hear the story," Rai told PTI.
Rai also said that the movie would be high on romance and songs, since it would be foolish on his part to have the king of romance in his movie and not make him romance his leading lady, the actress for which is yet to be finalised. As for Shah Rukh, looks like a string of commercially successful but critically panned movies, he is really trying hard for redemption.
