T-Mobile reports 17.8 percent jump in quarterly revenue

T-Mobile US, the No. 3 US wireless carrier, reported a 17.8 percent rise in quarterly revenue as promotions helped attract more subscribers.

The company's net income rose to $366 million, or 42 cents per share, in the third quarter ended Sept. 30 from $138 million, or 15 cents per share, a year earlier.

Total revenue rose to $9.2 billion, the company said on Monday.

The company said it added 2 million new subscribers on net for the quarter, helping to drive the revenue boost.

"That's 14 quarters in a row that T-Mobile has won share from the competition," said CEO John Legere. "The Un-carrier is delivering. We took share and grew our customer base while producing both financial growth and shareholder value."

The stock was 2.6% higher in pre-market trading as of 7:58 a.m. ET to $48.00 per share.
