Little had she expected that she would get a call from the Union Minister Prakash Javadekar himself, informing that she had topped the Class 12 Board examinations with a 99.6 per cent.

"The moment I got a call from Javadekar sir congratulating me, I couldn't stop jumping," says an overjoyed Raksha. It was all the more overwhelming for Raksha, especially because she had only expected to get above average marks.

Not many, however, know that there's much more to Raksha than this success. The extraordinary 17-year-old student is a pianist with a grade five certificate from the Trinity College of Music, London. She is an avid reader and particularly loves John Grisham books. Also, a blogger and a keen linguist who is learning French, Raksha says she never took any tuitions and found time even while giving her exams to play the piano.

Raksha attributes her success in Board exams to her parents, sister and teachers. She says it's because of her hard luck, but doesn't forget to credit her luck for her success.

For this topper, focusing on quality of what she was studying was imperative, more than the quantity of the syllabus. Also, being Consistent is key, according to Raksha's teachers. Their advice - "Be focused like Raksha throughout the year and not just in the months leading to the big day."

The Amity Noida student is now eyeing a seat in Delhi University, preferably in Lady Shri Ram College or Miranda House.
