Keshub Mahindra, the former chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra group, died at the age of 99. He was a key figure in building India's indigenous auto industry. Despite facing challenges such as license raj and government controls, he led the company to become cost-competitive through frugal engineering methods. Under his leadership, the group expanded its interests in software, financial services, tractors, and farm equipment. Apart from his business achievements, he also made philanthropy a priority, supporting projects such as educating girls and providing housing for cancer patients.
