Sheryl Sandberg on Thursday announced to leave Meta's board of directors and will not stand for re-election. Sandberg finally moved on from the position of COO after spending 14 years as the second most-important executive at the social network.
Facebook has reported loss in revenue in the June quarter for the first time since going public in 2007, predicting that growth in the third quarter could fall even more.
"I'm going to miss running this company with Sheryl. But I'm glad that she'll continue to serve on our board of directors so we can benefit from her wisdom and experience even after she transitions out of her day-to-day management role in the coming months," Zuckerberg informed.
