What's next for Facebook: seamless connections
Business Insider
Andrew Bosworth, Facebook's vice president of ads and business platform, joined Business Insider at IGNITION 2016 to discuss what we can expect to see Facebook accomplish in the coming years.
"I would like Facebook to help people with these little daily annoyances," Bosworth said. People tend to use Facebook to discover things, whether that's what their friends are up to or an upcoming event in their city, but Bosworth would like to see Facebook help take users from discovery to connections.
Bosworth gave an example of discovering a concert his friend was going to. Ideally, he said, Facebook would allow him to purchase a ticket to that concert within the app.
"If we start to be a place where people can get things done and really solve some real problems in their daily lives, you really open up a tremendous opportunity for businesses of all size to connect in a deeper way," Bosworth said.
This seamless connection, from discovery to decision to connection, "amounts to a stronger connection to a local community," Bosworth said, and it will be a major focus for Facebook in the next few years.
