You can now link your Aadhaar card with your PAN by an SMS

The Income Tax Department has eased the process of linking Aadhaar cards with PAN, which can now be done by sending an SMS.

Users can send an SMS with both numbers to either 567678 or 56161 to avail the service.

Other than using the SMS facility, one can also visit the official e-filing website of the I-T department to complete the process in case there is a minor mismatch in both databases.

However, in the case of a minor mismatch in Aadhaar name provided, an Aadhaar OTP will be required, which would be sent to the registered mobile number in the Aadhaar database.

"Aadhaar can also be seeded into PAN database by quoting Aadhaar in PAN application form for new PAN allotment or by quoting Aadhaar in change request form used for reprint of PAN card," said an advertisement from the I-T department.
