1. Snapchat is on track to generate $100 million (£66 million) in revenue over the next 12 months. The mobile messaging company is also ramping up its advertising efforts.

2. Crowdfunding site Patreon has been hacked. Motherboard reports the hack happened on September 28, and it looks like several gigabytes of internal data has now been released online.

3. Amazon plans to ban Apple and Google streaming devices from its site. Apple TV and Chromecast don't work with Amazon's video streaming service Amazon Prime, so it is going to remove them.

4. A hack of credit agency data broker Experian has exposed 15 million people's information. The company confirmed the breach on Thursday.

5. Hailo has sided with black cabs in London's growing taxi war. The app has resigned its license for its private hire service, as London's transport regulator proposes tough new rules for companies like Uber.

6. A new "stagefright" bug has left more than 1 billion Android users vulnerable to hacking. Motherboard reports Google plans to roll out a fix on October 5.

7. A debate has broken out about the business tactics of Irish tech conference Web Summit. Tech news site Tech.eu ran a story criticising the event, to which it responded with a post claiming it isn't a "scam." Tech.eu has since responded again.
