Trump's unveils his tax plan. The plan lowers the corporate tax rate to 20% from 35% and drops the top individual tax rate to 35% from 39.6%.
Foreigners will soon be able to trade in China's wild commodity futures market. China's financial markets regulator, the China Securities Regulatory Commission, announced plan to open certain commodities markets to foreigners, in addition to pushing forward with the introduction of crude oil futures to create a rival contract to those traded in Chicago, New York and London.
The number of millionaires hits a record high. The number of millionaires in the world jumped 8% in 2016 to a record high of about 16.5 million people, Reuters reports, citing a report by global consultancy firm Capgemini.
Toshiba unloads its chip business. A consortium of buyers, which includes Bain Capital and Apple, has agreed to pay 2.1 trillion Japanese yen ($18.9 billion) for Toshiba's Nand flash memory chip business.
Roku prices its IPO. The streaming TV provider priced its initial public offering at $14 a share, giving it a valuation of $1.3 billion. Shares will trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker "ROKU."
Mark Zuckerberg responds to Trump's tweet. "Trump says Facebook is against him," Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post. "Liberals say we helped Trump. Both sides are upset about ideas and content they don't like. That's what running a platform for all ideas looks like."
Traders refuse to let Equifax off the hook. Short interest in Equifax shares has jumped 28% since the massive data breach was first announced, according to data provided by financial analytics firm S3 Partners.
Stock markets around the world are mostly higher. Japan's Nikkei (+0.47%) led the gains in Asia and Germany's DAX (+0.37%) is out front in Europe. The S&P 500 is set to open little changed near 2,506.
Earnings reports trickle out. Blackberry reports ahead of the opening bell and KB Home releases its quarterly results after markets close.
US economic data flows. GDP - Third Estimate and initial claims will be both released at 8:30 a.m. ET. The US 10-year yield is up 3 basis points at 2.34%.
