Whether they don't use all their skills in their current job or they work part-time when they'd rather work full-time, a startling amount of people in the US consider themselves underemployed.

Over the course of two years, PayScale collected data from nearly one million US workers and found that, overall, 46% of survey respondents consider themselves underemployed.

Of these respondents, 76% say they are not using their education or training, while 24% say they are working only part-time but would rather work full-time.

PayScale also sorted and ranked its data by the job titles most relatively common among underemployed workers compared to all U.S. workers.

For example, the relative commonness for a technical support representative job title among the underemployed is 1.69, meaning it is 1.69 times more likely for an underemployed worker to have a technical support representative job title than the average US Worker.
