  • Buffalo Bills veteran cornerback Vontae Davis apparently quit during halftime of a game on Sunday.
  • According to Bills players and head coach Sean McDermott, Davis told teammates he was not playing the second half and was "done."
  • According to one report, Davis even got changed and left the stadium.
  • The Bills have been outscored 78-23 this season.

Things around the Buffalo Bills have apparently gotten so bad that one player called it quits at halftime.

According to reports, Bills 30-year-old cornerback Vontae Davis decided not to play in the second half while the Bills trailed the Los Angeles Chargers, 28-6. Davis allegedly told teammates he was quitting and retiring.

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Davis supposedly put his street clothes on and left the stadium.

Bills coach Sean McDermott confirmed that Davis decided not to play, but would not comment on whether he left the stadium.

The Bills also lost cornerback E.J. Gaines to an injury on Sunday, leaving the team even more shallow at defensive back.

Last week, the Bills were blown out, 47-3, by the Baltimore Ravens. Starting quarterback Nathan Peterman threw for just 24 yards, eventually being replaced by rookie quarterback Josh Allen, who started in Week 2. Allen faired a little better, throwing for 245 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions on Sunday.

It's unclear whether Davis' retirement was permanent or a one-week thing, or whether it even had to do with the result of the game. But clearly, things are not off to a good start in Buffalo.
