Mother’s Day is just around the corner and you must have planned something special for your mommy dearest. Or haven’t you done it yet? Don’t fret; it’s not very difficult to please the ‘mothers.’ After all, she doesn’t expect you to burn a hole in your pocket to please her. Just a simple act of affection and a little bit of your time can bring a million-dollar smile on her face. So here are the five things you can do for your mommy and make the D-day (May 11) really memorable for her!

1. Send her a letter E-mail, voice and video calls, chats and social networking have made us so connected to our friends and extended family that we have actually forgotten to stay in touch with the people closest to us. So, this Mother’s Day, give your mom a hand-written letter and thank her for being a wonderful parent. Tell her how special you feel at having her around. This will be a priceless gift for her and she will cherish the letter for days to come.

2. Indulge her Mommies are a busy lot. They overwork themselves to please everyone around them. Hence, there can be no better gift for a mom than some quality ‘relaxation.’ Take her out for a soothing spa session or a rejuvenating beauty treatment. And don’t take ‘no’ for an answer (well, no mom wants to spend a lot on herself, but you have got to change that). At the end, she will be the happiest person on earth and look gorgeous, too. Want to make things all the more fun? Book a massage for the two of you.

3. Give her the gift of time As we grow up and get busy with our own lives, we don’t realise that someone out there loses a part of her universe. The woman, who was once your best friend and confidante, suddenly gets distanced when you grow up and some social networking site takes her place. You can’t tell her everything now as it’s not cool to confide in mom. But change all that; take a break and gift her a day from your life. Yes, spend an entire day with her and keep her company. You won’t have to do big, flashy things to impress her. Just allow her to do all that she wants to do for you and it will bring her immense joy.

4. Go for a long drive/nature walk You’ll get many chances to drive around the world with your better half. But this Mother’s Day, go for a long drive or a long walk amidst the nature with your mom. This can be a great way to find some precious time for that hearty talk while you have loads of fun on the way.

5. Plan to thrill her Ban her from the kitchen for a day. Do for her what she does for you all the time – cook a yummy meal. Serve her breakfast in bed; take her out for a hearty lunch and go shopping thereafter. In short, spoil her silly.
