It was the second last week of March and there was a nip in the air. The top of Qutub Minar shimmered in the odd moonlight. Frequent airplane movement would suddenly punctuate the rhythm of the evening.

On the note of Airbnb launching a brand new initiative, the country’s who ’s who have gathered at Qla, the offbeat restaurant at Delhi’s Mehrauli, an area well known for the Qutub. The soiree began an hour late. While the guests reveled in the company of socialites and overflowing champagnes, the terrace of Qla was all set to witness the history.

What everybody knew was a fashion show by designer duo that is scheduled to take place. What they didn’t know were the surprises that were in store. The terrace lit in the neon of Airbnb stories was filled till capacity. Mandira Bedi, the emcee for the evening introduced the guests to the main theme. While she hinted at the ‘surprise’ at the end as showstopper, guests were left to guess. And then began the fashion show of Shantanu and Nikhil.

The designer duo’s collection is known for its simplicity and elegance. Playing on black, grey, white, off white and yellow – Shantanu and Nikhil have created a collection loaded with style-smart silhouettes, elegant cuts and fine detailing. While we aren’t sure if this is a new collection, there was ample of double breasted Jodhpuri jackets, wide pants and the signature angular draped kurtas.

And as the guests waited in baited breath for the surprise, the show stopper was none other than Brian Chesky, the founder of Airbnb. Brian Chesky is among the people who have revolutionized how the world holidays. Wearing a black double breasted Jodhpuri jacket, the CEO looked dapper.
