Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, or DDLJ as it is fondly called, completes 20 years today. Released on 20th October 1995, the movie has attained the status of a cult classic, in both India and abroad. The movie tells the story of Raj and Simran, two NRIs from London who fall in love in Europe only to face opposition from Simran’s father who has already fixed her marriage with a friend’s son back in India.

Along with several awards, the movie also won the prestigious National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. The popularity of the movie can be easily estimated with the fact that the movie is still running in a Mumbai theatre called Maratha Mandir.
