B-school students are believing in India’s growth story and taking up less offers overseas

Expect fewer brain drains as students from B-schools are going for domestic offers during placements.

Also, offers for global postings went down in many B-schools this year, including IIM-Bangalore, Kozhikode, Calcutta, Indore and Kashipur.

Many students took up domestic offers as India’s being projected as a ‘bright spot’ and they are banking on the growth story.

"India will be the fastest growing major economy driven by investment, consumption and policy factors, which will boost employment. Also, US and European firms are expanding their presence here and so the companies are focusing more on hiring in India," SV Nathan, chief talent officer, Deloitte India, told ET.

At IIM-Bangalore, international offers dipped to 15 from almost 20 last year and at IIM-Kozhikode, the offers were down to four compared to 15 last year.

"The world economy is not doing well except for the growth story in India and the offers this year are also a reflection of this," a person in the placement team at IIM-Kashipur told ET.
