After the launch of the first looks of the main cast, the first official teaser of
Bajirao Mastani,
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s dream project, is out, and in just three minutes, the teaser shows what the grandeur of this movie is going to be like.
Starring some of the finest actors in
Bollywood’s young brigade, this project of Sanjay Leela Bhansali would instantly remind you of
Jodha Akbar, which was the magnum opus of filmmaker
Ashutosh Govariker, and took the audience through a 3-hour long journey of India’s most beloved Mughal emperor and his Hindu wife. However, the resemblance is only in the huge sets and the battlefield scenes, given that Bhansali and Govariker are two very different filmmakers.
The movie stars
Ranveer Singh as the Maratha warrior Bajirao,
Priyanka Chopra as his wife Kashibai, and
Deepika Padukone as his lover and possibly his second wife Mastani. While Ranveer and Deepika have worked under Bhansali’s direction in his previous film
Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, it’s the first time that Priyanka Chopra is being directed by Bhansali, who had although produced
Mary Kom, which starred Chopra in the lead role.
The teaser doesn’t have any dialogues but one that comes in the last, when we hear Singh speaking in a thick Marathi accent. The movie also stars Tanvi Azmi, who had gone bald for her role as Radhabai, Bajirao’s mother, but she was not accommodated in the first teaser.
