Bernie Sanders is surprisingly pro-gun
"If you passed the strongest gun control legislation tomorrow, I don't think it will have a profound effect on the tragedies we have seen," he told Vermont alt weekly Seven Days.
Sanders represents a state - Vermont - where gun ownership is high, while murders via shooting are very low. In 2005, he voted in favor of a bill that protects gun makers and sellers from being sued. Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton has stated that she'll attempt to repeal the bill, should she be elected.
Sanders has said "sensible gun-control legislation" is needed, so long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of responsible gun owners.
