Business Insider Is Looking For A Paid Health Intern This Spring

Business Insider's science team is looking for a paid editorial intern specializing in health to join us for the spring.

Here's a quick test to see if you qualify:

• Do you read about medical advances with a mix of excitement and skepticism?
• Do you get pumped every time the CDC releases new data?
• Are you interested in diving into questions about what keeps us healthy and what makes us sick?
• Do your debates about our health care system get heated?

If so, you should probably apply to join the Business Insider science team.

Our science vertical (check it out at Businessinsider.com/science) is expanding our coverage. We're looking for someone to round out our team and help us add personality, fun, and intelligence to our health reporting.

Our health stories cover a wide range of topics - from disease-related discoveries and public health crises to Affordable Care Act drama and medical oddities. We're also always looking for a health angle on current events.

As our intern, you'll write blog posts and feature-length articles that you've pitched or been assigned. Our interns are an integral part of our team, and many of our current writers and editors started as interns.

No running out for coffee here. We have our own coffee, right in the office - all you can drink. Other perks? We have lots of free snacks and a ping-pong table where we hold quarterly tournaments.

Qualifications

We want someone who is passionate about a career in science journalism. That could mean you are a journalist who is passionate about science and public health, but it could also mean that you've been writing a science blog and jumping into health-related discussions on social media. Either way, you should be ready to start pitching, reporting, and writing on Day 1.

If you're equally comfortable on Twitter and PubMed, you'll fit right in. Also helpful: familiarity with study-based stories, writing experience in a quick-turnaround environment, copy-editing skills, attention to detail, and light HTML/Photoshop experience.

We are looking for someone who loves science and health topics in particular. A self-described nerd would fit the bill nicely.
