2. India boasts of the second largest rail network in the whole world: It’s a known fact that the country has been lauded for its efficient railway connectivity. But, did you also know that its rail network is the second largest in the whole world?

The Indian railway network comprises 115,000 km of track over a route of 65,808 km and 7,112 stations. Indian Railways is also known to carry 8.39 more than 23 million passengers a day and 1058.81 million tons of freight in a year.

3. India has more than 40000 mosques in different parts of the country: India also has the most number of mosques as compared to any country, proving how accepting it is of different religions.

4. One of the oldest university was found in India: India is also the country with one of the first universities, which flourished from 600 BC to 500 AD. At one stage, it was said that Nalanda University was the choice of more than 10,500 students that too from different parts of the world such as Greece, Babylon and China.

5. It is also home to one of the oldest cities in the world: the city of Varanasi, which is a popular tourist destination for people within and outside India, is also regarded as one of the oldest and sacred cities in the world. It is said that the city was found 5000 years ago by Lord Shiva.
