Popularity of wearables in India has driven Global watch and accessory group Fossil to bring out their own range of smartwatches across its brands including Fossil Q, Michael Kors, Skagen, Chaps and Emporio Armani. The company has got MisFit on board to head the Connected Devices division in order to design smart watches, hybrid watches and fitness trackers for the brands. Fossil sees huge potential in the wearable market in India and by venturing into connected products it’s looking to appeal to both fashion and the technology minded consumer.

By entering a new market of consumer electronics these brands are looking to strengthen their foothold in the Indian market, Vasant Nangia, Managing Director, Fossil Group India says, “India is at the brink of a ‘connected’ revolution as the wearable device market sees an exponential growth. Wearable market will be bigger than watch market in the next five years”. He also talked about making connected devices out of jewelry and leather bags going forward.
