The new service turns Google's mobile search results page into an app discovery service and will most likely be a major help for mobile developers because when searching for things on phones mobile users tend to go to specific apps.
Google introduced App indexing in late 2013, which let the search engine index content from a select number of apps and link to it from its search results pages. In its earlier version, users need to have the apps already installed on their phones.
With this new update the concept of App indexing has been taken further, by helping users find relevant content in apps that they do not already have on their phones.
The App Indexing project now features more than 30 billion links that go to places specifically within apps. The company wouldn't disclose how many developers have implemented this feature in their apps.
