Google suffered a major but brief outage this morning
Google appears to be suffering service issues right now.
Functions such as Google search and Gmail don't appear to be working for people in countries including the UK, Netherlands, Iceland, and India. For some, Google services have gone down altogether, while others are suffering intermittent outages.
Lots of people are reporting on Twitter that they are experiencing issues.
Isitdownrightnow.com also appeared to confirm the issue:

Google declined to comment.
The company did, however, direct us to its Apps Status Dashboard, which stated that none of its services were experiencing issues on Thursday morning.
It is an extremely rare occurrence for Google to go down like this. And annoying: It has become second nature to use Google as a primary search function, and many business email accounts run on Gmail.
By coincidence, on Wednesday Apple suffered a huge outage that brought its online store iTunes, the App Store, and other services online for a couple of hours.
