Since the iPhone has stolen millions of hearts as well as stamped the face of its forefather into the dirt, the iPod doesn't get much love anymore. And if its Apple Store relegation is anything to pass by, it might be en route to phase-out territory.
The original iPod was released 15 years ago in October 2001. Steve Jobs' pitch was simple: 1,000 digital songs in a sleek device about the size of a deck of cards.
At that point with the iTunes Store,Apple revolutionized and legitimized music downloads. As the iPod developed, became more popular and opened up to support Windows, Apple included more models (Nano, Shuffle and Touch). The rest is history.
