India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki has temporarily halted the production at its Gurgaon and Manesar facilities owing to a disruption in the supply of components that it is facing because of fire at its supplier Subros' Manesar facilities. "Owing to an unfortunate incident of fire at the Manesar facilities of our supplier, M/s Subros Limited, on Sunday (May 29), supplies of components from that plant have been disrupted. As a consequence, Maruti Suzuki India Limited will have to temporarily suspend manufacture of cars at its facilities in Manesar and Gurgaon, starting second half Monday (May 30)", said a company statement.
The damage done by the fire is being assessed jointly by Subros Limited and Maruti Suzuki, while the car maker considers options from where it can get a supply of components, so that production can be resumed ASAP.
