The chief of Mercedes Benz India, Roland Folger is all praise for the Modi-ruled centre. Although he has admitted that the sales didn’t go well as expected because of the Supreme Court’s decision to stop manufacturing SUVs with engine capacity above 2000cc.

However he added that the German car giant didn’t face any hurdle in bureaucratic level while operating their manufacturing plant in Pune.
"It is very important for us to get clarity on a lot of policy decisions and we need to make a lot of decisions fast. So when I see the officials quickly moving files and problems are resolved within the set time-frame, then things are certainly moving in the right direction," his response to a query by Economictimes.com during a roundtable held at the company's headquarters in Chakan, Pune.

He has expressed his anxiety over GST, which he feels that not much is clear about.

"The insecurity regarding GST is bad for us. We are hoping that the rollout takes place on April 1. If it doesn't happen, we will be unclear about our sales target,” he told the ET. While speaking on the country’s automobile market, Folger feels everything is going in the right direction. At the moment, Mercedes has no plans to expand its manufacturing outside Pune.
