"In the coming week or so, the card will be available at our vegetable and fruit outlets and by the end of the year, the cards will be available at Mother Dairy outlets across Delhi NCR," said S Nagarajan, managing director, Mother Dairy fruit and vegetable private limited.
The card can be bought for Rs 25 and can be recharged with a maximum amount of Rs 1,000.
"The Rs 1,000 limit has been set to prevent loss in case the card is lost. No pin is needed to operate them; they can be used by anybody. We realized that due to shortage of change, shopkeepers were giving credit or sweets to consumers. The card will do away with this. It is also a convenient way to avoid handling cash," said Nagarajan.
