This will be the first launch by Nokia in India after Microsoft announced taking over the Finnish firm’s mobile business. Today, Nokia has unveiled the new Lumia 1020, which was showcased for the first time in New York, a couple of months ago. This new phone is the latest flag-bearer from the Nokia-Windows camp and brings some cool features to a Windows handset. To begin with, Lumia 1020 is a photographer’s delight. It has a 41 MP camera (which was made popular by the Nokia Pureview 808), accompanied by a LED and XENON flash. In addition, it features optical stabilisation for shake-free pictures. We did like the camera on the Pureview 808 and this one should be no different.

Available in a variety of colours, this handset has a 1.5 GHz dual-core Krait CPU, 2 GB RAM and 32 GB memory under the hood. As for software, users will get the Windows Phone 8 Operating System and it will be loaded with various Nokia apps such as Here Maps and Nokia Mix Radio. This phone has hit the Indian shores precisely at a time when a lot of changes are happening at Nokia and some significant revival plans are taking place. Also, Nokia has recently lost the top position to Samsung Mobiles in India. So can this smartphone bring the lost glory back, we wonder. Sales in India will officially kick off on Oct 11 and the India pricing will be revealed only then. But we expect it to be somewhere around $800. Whether Indians will be willing to shell out that much for this new offering is what we want to see.
