Princeton and Williams named America's best colleges in new US News & World Report ranking

Princeton University and Williams College are once again the best schools in America, according to US News & World Report's 2016 rankings.

This list marks the third consecutive year that Princeton has been named the best university and the 13th consecutive year Williams has been named best liberal arts college.

In creating these two lists, US News includes input from both academic peers and high school guidance counselors, according to their website. The rankings also use data such as alumni giving, graduation and retention rates, and selectivity.

Here are the national universities that US News rated in the top 10 for 2016:

1. Princeton University

4. Stanford University

4. University of Chicago
