Snapchat is officially down and won't let some people send photos

The trouble began around 5:30 ET as people started reporting that they couldn't send photos or load stories.
More than 40 minutes later, the app is still having issues and the company says it's investigating.

According to Down Detector, which tracks website and app outages, most of the people hit are on the west and east coasts, along with Europe.

So far, Snapchat is quiet on what's caused the outage. We'll update when we know more.
